We do not have teams without our head coaches, and head coaching is imperative to our players' development. As an all-volunteer organization, that is not lost on us! We cannot thank our coaches enough for volunteering their time, experience, and expertise to the development of San Antonio hockey players. Coach Kyle Flood was born in Zion, Illinois, and grew up playing high-level AA hockey in the CSDHL throughout Northern Illinois and the Midwest. His early experiences in one of the nation’s most competitive youth hockey environments helped shape both his understanding of the game and the values that continue to guide his coaching philosophy today.
Entering his fifth season behind the bench, Coach Kyle brings energy, dedication, and a genuine passion for developing young athletes. He's committed to creating a positive and challenging environment where players can build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a lifelong love for the game of hockey. He believes coaching extends far beyond wins and losses, with the true purpose being to develop not only skilled hockey players, but also respectful, accountable, and resilient young men and women. By emphasizing work ethic, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship alongside on-ice skills, Coach Kyle strives to help every athlete become a complete player and an even better person.
Above all, Coach Kyle's hope is that each player leaves the season with improved ability, greater confidence, lasting memories, and a deeper love for the game.

A proud native of North Dakota, Coach Eric Helstedt brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game to the rink. Drafted in the first round of the WHL by the Calgary Hitmen, he also competed in the USHL before earning a Division I scholarship to the University of Connecticut, where he developed both as a player and as a leader on and off the ice.
Following his collegiate career, Eric turned his focus to coaching, helping lay the foundation for youth hockey development in Colorado. With a strong commitment to skill development and character building, he played a pivotal role in growing the sport at the grassroots level.
For the past two and a half years, Eric has been instrumental in building and strengthening the youth hockey organization in San Antonio, where he continues to inspire the next generation of players with his deep knowledge of the game, high standards, and dedication to player development.

Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Coach Brent Currie built a strong foundation in hockey before going on to play nine years of professional hockey. Known for a disciplined work ethic and deep understanding of the game.. After retiring from professional play, Brent transitioned into coaching, bringing his on-ice experience and leadership skills behind the bench. He is passionate about player development, team culture, and helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the ice.

Coach Brian Bettis, originally from Hartford, Vermont, is a lifelong hockey player and coach who began his career in high school and continued at Norwich University. He has represented the United States Marshals at the World Police and Fire Games and remains an active player and ambassador for the sport. Brian has coached both 16U Girls and 14U Boys teams to championship seasons, emphasizing discipline and teamwork. With over 20 years of military service-including leadership roles in the Army and advanced military education-he brings a wealth of experience to the San Antonio Rampage Hockey program, where he is committed to mentoring young athletes and supporting the growth of hockey in South Texas.
